Accommodation in Normandy for international students – EN

You are an international student and you would like to obtain university housing with Crous Normandie.

Here are the steps to apply for accommodation in a university residence:

1. Prepare for your arrival

First, consult the page dedicated to international students – Welcome to France to learn about all the essential steps before your arrival.

2. Create your MSE profile

Go to: www.messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr

  • Click on “Inscription” (Sign up) in the top right corner to create your account, which is required for all your procedures.
  • If you encounter difficulties, check the FAQ.
  • Once logged in, under the heading ‘Accommodation’, click on Crous residence to access Crous residence accommodation.

3. Apply for housing

Go to: https://trouverunlogement.lescrous.fr/

If a room is available, it will appear on the platform — you just need to select the offer to apply.

USEFUL INFORMATION

Open a bank account in France in the student’s name (e.g. online bank https://nickel.eu/fr or traditional bank). Rents and security deposits are paid by credit card or bank transfer. Cash is not accepted.

Have an international telephone number (prefix +033) compatible with Crous Normandie SMS reception.

Have a guarantor to cover unpaid rent and damage to property. If you don’t have a guarantor, you can apply for Garantie Visale, a scheme run by the Action Logement group.

Take out insurance for your home (infos sur https://www.etudiant.gouv.fr/fr/assurer-son-logement-1660)
